Donald James Franck

October 29, 1932 — June 10, 2017

Donald James Franck, 84, of Livingston, Montana was called home to his Lord on Saturday, June 10th, 2017 at his home. A Memorial Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 16th, 1 P.M, at the St. Pauls Lutheran Church (327 South 12th St, Livingston). Reception will follow the service and a graveside committal and burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to: St. Paul's Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice. Don was born in Ceylon, MN on October 29, 1932 and graduated from Fairmont high school in 1950. Don attended Mankato State University and was active in band, gymnastics, M honors club and track. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and after basic training served 2 years active duty (1954-1955) stationed in Japan. He then served 6 years in the Army reserves. When his military service was finished he attended stenographer school and graduated in 1959. He married Delores Meyer on August 16, 1957 and they enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage. Their Montana adventure began when he accepted the court reporter position in Livingston in 1959. He served as 6th Judicial District Court Reporter for Judges George Allen, Jack Shanstrom and Byron Robb for 33 years before retiring. Don and Delores lived in Livingston for 3 years before moving near Carter's bridge where they lived for 8 years. In 1970 they moved to the ranch at Suce Creek. They have 8 children, 18 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren. Don enjoyed family, being active in church, ranching, horseback riding, music, community choir, crossword puzzles and chocolate. He is preceded in death by his parents, August and Grace (Foell) Franck, as well as an infant sister. Don is survived by his wife Delores; children Ellen (Brad) Mattes of Cincinnati, OH; Linda Franck of Billings; Jim (Brenda) Franck of Livingston; Mark (Allison) Franck of Howell, MI; Dan Franck of Livingston; Joe Franck of Livingston; Tom (Danielle) Franck of Bozeman; Sara (Marcus) Giese of Bozeman; 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Arrangements are under the care of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
