Kenneth LeRoy Sonnek

May 1, 1926 — September 25, 2017

Kenneth LeRoy "Kenny" Sonnek, 91, of Livingston, Montana, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017 at Frontier Assisted Living. Cremation has taken place at Franzen-Davis Crematory. Per Kennys wishes a formal funeral will not be held. Kenny was born on May 1, 1926, in Baker, Montana. He was the son of Robert and Helen (OTremba) Sonnek. He was raised on the family ranch near Golva, North Dakota. Kenny knew how to work hard. He not only worked his familys ranch but the neighbors ranches too. Kenny entered active military service in the United States Merchant Marines in 1944, and served his country during WW II. Upon his discharge he made Beach, North Dakota his home. He went back to working the family ranch. Kenny soon took other interests; he started at the Schultz garage in Beach. He married Marie Kunick, and they were blessed with a son, Kevin. They later separated. Kenny made a move to Lewistown to work at Cooley Chevrolet garage. He was introduced to Betty (McArthur) Puckett, by a friend. After he got her to go on a date with him, they courted for another year, until their marriage in February of 1960. Kenny and Betty moved around a bit until settling in Livingston in 1966. In Livingston Kenny owned and operated Livingston Carburetor and Electric in two different locations until his retirement. Kenny had an affection for Hudsons. He had restored at least eight over the years. He was a master mechanic and a fantastic auto body man. An all-around great guy. Kenny was a gifted bowler recording his first sanctioned 300 in the early 60s; more would follow. He loved golf, hunting and getting away to fish. He would go on trail rides almost every weekend, buzzing up to one of the mountain lakes. Blessed is his memory. Kenny is survived by his: wife of 57 years, Betty. His son, Kevin Sonnek of Tucson, AZ and his sister, Sharon Carney of California. Other relatives and close family friends. Kenny is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen, siblings, Maurice, Karnes, and Merle.
