Donald Adam Doll

Donald Adam Doll, 82, longtime Livingston resident, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019 surrounded by his family at the Spring Creek Inn in Bozeman. Don was born October 19, 1936 to Martin Doll, Sr. and Katherine (Seeberger) Doll at their family farm near Almont, North Dakota, he was one of 9 children. He attended the country school graduating the 8th grade then helped on the family farm into his late teens. He became a machinist apprentice with the Northern Pacific Railroad in 1955 out of Glendive, MT. Don met Violet E. Lulham in Glendive. They were married on December 1, 1956. It was during this time that Don joined a band, in which he played the accordion.They moved to Livingston, MT in 1963 when Don was hired as a machinist in the Northern Pacific Livingston shops. He retired in 1989. Don loved working for the railroad and made many lifelong friends there.Don & Vi raised 3 daughters. Shelley (Dana) Elder, Sherrey (John) Angle, and Sherral Doll. His greatest love was his family and he was the best 'Dad, Grandpa, Gramps, and Great Grandpa'! In addition to his wife and children Don is also survived by his grandchildren Aaron and Adam Elder, Kristofer Angle, Kamron Lookhart, Ashley Elsey, and Charles Anton Downey as well as 13 great-grandchildren.Don was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Loyal Order of the Moose, and Park County 5-Watters Club. He enjoyed working on cars and was a fine carpenter. During his retirement Don spent most of his time making tin-man yard ornaments and creating intarsia scenes and other wood carvings. He also enjoyed bowling as a league member for many years.Though dementia recently clouded his mind Don was always able to express the love he had for his family. He will be greatly missed!A celebration of Dons life well lived will be held 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 3, at Treasure Lanes Bowling Alley, 1122 W Front St, Livingston, MT. Come enjoy refreshments and share stories.
