Floyd Leroy Elquist

d. May 7, 2019

Floyd Leroy Elquist (aka Rick), 66, of Livingston passed from this life on Tuesday, May 7, 2019. He looked forward to dancing before Jesus, running ad leaping with joy. God has now freed Floyd from his physical handicaps and extreme pain. Floyd was especially thankful that God set him free from physical and emotional prisons of sin and addictions, even while living through his lengthy battle with cancer. Gods grace indeed is greater than all our sin! During his life, Floyd lived adventurously. He worked outdoors with his stepdad laying roadside culverts, pipe, etc; including roadwork on the Northern Alaska pipeline. Floyd also had the joy of washing wildlife after the Valdez oil spill. As well, he got to see the fruit of his planting thousands of trees after the Mount St. Helens eruption.Floyd loved watching the loving families interact at Evangelical Free Church of Bozeman, especially the joy of the children and young people. He truly enjoyed participating in the Friday Night Life Recovery (Alive Again Life Recovery Mission) dinner, worship and recovery meetings for any with addiction of debilitating life issues. He was grateful for the care and strong friendship of his sponsor, Bil Buckmaster. Floyd made many good friends through that mission at E-Free church.A special thank you to the people of E-Free Church , as well as Dr. Derick Weiss, nurse Julie, the Montana Independent Living Project (who made it possible for Floyd to live at home), Hospice (Livingston HealthCare), and many friends who loved Floyd and prayed for him or assisted him through his battles until his death.Floyd is strongly missed by his very best friend and caregiver, Gretchen Fortner, as well as his beloved service animal, Scully the cat.Floyd was preceded in death by his father, Floyd A. Elquist who died fishing in the Alaska waters when Floyd was a toddler; his step-father Don Christianson, his mother Gloria Wolf Christianson and his beloved brother, Chris Christianson.
