Lois Eleanor (Fletcher) Mann

May 18, 1936 ~ January 12, 2018 (age 81)

Lois Eleanor Mann, 81, of Livingston, Montana, passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, January 12th, 2018 at the Livingston HealthCare Hospital. A Church Universal and Triumphant Cremation Memorial service will be held on Monday, January 15th at 1:30 P.M. at the Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. A memorial gathering is also being planned for May, further details will be published closer to the date.

Lois was born on May 18th, 1936 in Muncie, Indiana, to Kenneth and Leona (Moulton) Fletcher. She grew up first living on the family farm and then moving into the city of Parker, Indiana, following the death of her father when she was eight. Lois was a force of nature and hard working. She began her first job in a little cafe at age 11 and didn’t stop working until she retired at 80.

Lois was married to Gerald A. Mann for 25 years and they were blessed with five children: Cynthia, Karen, Carol, Katherine, and Marten. They began their family in Indiana, later moving to Palmyra, New Jersey, and then Silver Spring, Maryland.

Following their separation Lois headed west. She joined the staff with the Church Universal and Triumphant in Los Angeles. In 1989 she moved to Livingston, Montana. She was always such a wonderful cook and so very good at it that she turned it into her career. She has been a Livingston restauranteur for the past 26 years.  Lois opened the Humble Heart Cafe, which she operated for 12 years. She and her daughter Cynthia later opened Bittersweet, a bakery and cafe, which they ran together for 14 years. They had just recently decided to close the doors last January so that Lois could retire.

She loved Livingston and the people here. There is nowhere else she wanted to live. She finally realized her dream of living in a house built for her here, following her retirement.

Lois is survived by her children: Cynthia Down of Livingston; Karen (Les) Crierie of Dunkirk, MD; Carol Mann of San Jose, CA; Katherine Mann of Glen Burnie, MD; and Marten Mann of Federal Way, WA.; and six grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Leona Fletcher and brother, Jack Fletcher.

Arrangements are under the care of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
