Ronald Eugene Vickers

Ronald Eugene "Bulldog" Vickers, 66, of Livingston, Montana, passed away Tuesday, March 7th, 2017 at Livingston HealthCare Hospital with his family at his side. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 13th, from 5-7 P.M. at the Franzen-Davis Funeral Home, 118 North 3rd St., Livingston. A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 14th, at Franzen-Davis, with Pastor Glen Helig of the Shields Valley Bible Church officiating. Veterans honors will conclude the service, interment will be at a later date. Memorials are preferred to: Montana chapter of the American Diabetes Association, 112 S 1st Ave #323, Laurel, MT 59044. Ron was born on November 15th, 1950, in Bozeman, Montana. He was the son of Cassius Ellsworth and Velma Icy May (Carpenter) Vickers. As a young boy the family relocated to Helena, Montana where Ron received his education. Ron entered active military service in the United States Army in 1968, and served his country stationed stateside at Fort Sill in Oklahoma. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1970, and returned to Helena. Helena is where he met the love of his life. On February 19th, 1972, Ron was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Gage in Helena. This marriage was blessed with three children, daughter Pamela, son Kenneth and son Jacob. Ron and Barb resided in Helena raising their family. "Bulldog", as he was known, was his nickname all the time he worked for the railroad. They later moved to Livingston, Montana in 1987. Ron continued his work with the railroad retiring in 2004 as the Livingston Section Foreman. He and Barb have shared 45 years of marriage. Ron was a lover of the outdoors. He spent many beautiful days fishing rivers and lakes, camping with friends and family and hunting the mountains. He enjoyed the trains, reading, collecting guns and his fishing poles. His favorite baseball team was the Chicago Cubs. He was so very happy to see them finally win the World Series in 2016. He was a man who loved his God and cherished every moment he could be with his family. Blessed be his memory. Ron is survived by his: wife of 45 years Barb. Children, daughter, Pamela Fox of Livingston, son Jacob Vickers of Livingston. Grandsons, Mikey and Alex Vickers. Brothers, Richard Vickers of Townsend and Roland Vickers and his wife Lynn of Athol, Idaho. Nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Ron is preceded in death by his parents, brother Rodger Vickers and an infant son Kenneth. Arrangements are under the care of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
