Sheila K. (McCarthy) Gravage

May 23, 1933 — December 5, 2019

Sheila K. Gravage, 86, of Livingston, passed away on Thursday December 5, 2019, at her residence surrounded by love. A service in Sheila's honor will be held at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home, 118 North 3rd St., on Tuesday December 10th at 1:00 p.m.Sheila was born May 23, 1933, in Townsend MT to Madalen (Mann) and Fairfax McCarthy, the second generation of Irish immigrants. She received her early education in Townsend and was a proud graduate of Broadwater County High School. While attending college in Spokane WA she met Patrick Gravage, and a lifelong marriage of love began. They were married in 1954, and after chasing Pat's teaching and coaching jobs around small Montana towns, they settled for good in Livingston in 1963. Sheila was the consummate mother and homemaker, tirelessly chasing, feeding, and bandaging children, whether her own or those throughout the neighborhood. She found solace with her group of mother-friends at weekly Bridge gatherings all throughout the years. During the 1970's she was a familiar face behind the counter at Robb Jewelry, and when Jack retired from the business, her family wondered if she had ever actually received a paycheck, noting her fine collection of jewelry. After Pat's retirement they spent a few winters in Las Vegas, and in 1989 decided to relocate there full time. In 2006 Pat and Sheila returned to Montana and built a home in Billings. After Pat's death in 2012, Sheila talked of returning to Livingston, and the opportunity came in March of 2019. She loved being home again.Sheila, (aka G.G. - Grandma Gravage) is survived by son, Dan (Lynda) of Livingston; daughter, Diane (Jim) Ridgway of Billings; daughter, Kathryn (Damion) of Livingston; son, John (Annette) of Thornton CO; nine grandsons, Dugan (Valerie) Gravage, Vann (Caitlyn) Gravage, Miles (Melanie) Gravage, Jason (Ashley), Brian (Jen), and Stephen (Alaine) Ridgway, Andy (Karissa) Gravage, and Michael (Jordann) and Jordan Gravage; nine great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild, just days ago.
