Albert Edward Palmer

Albert Edward Palmer, age 88, of Livingston, Montana passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021, from complications after surgery at Billings Clinic Hospital.Albert was born in Livingston, Montana on November 3, 1932, the son of Warren E. and Marie R. (Sarrazin) Palmer. He attended school at Grannis. Starting in his early teens, he worked on the family ranch on the lower Shields River as well as for neighboring ranches. Albert was proud of the work he did, and the families he worked with. Some of the many were the McNiven Ranch, Windsor Ranch, Livestock Ranch, and for most of his later life, the Lane Ranch. In his words, he "enjoyed every bit of it." Albert was a true steward of the land and fulfilled his life's passion with meticulous care. Albert treated the land and cattle he cared for as if they were his own and continued to do so into his 80's. For decades, he spent the summers up in the mountains watching over cattle herds and tending to the land. He believed in doing things right and enjoyed reminiscing about the old days with friends met along the way. Most recently, Albert came to enjoy a close friendship with his neighbors to the south, John and Ginny Tate. They treated each other as true neighbors, helping one another with work as well as enjoying down time. Albert was an inquisitive man, spending many hours in the local library. He was also fiercely independent, spending the majority of his life living as a bachelor and caring for himself until the very end. He was proud to have lived on and cared for his family's ranch his entire life. Albert is the last of his Palmer line after generations on the ranch along the Shields River. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Marie, and by his two brothers, Francis and Marvin. Albert will be missed by many dear friends and extended family who appreciated his steadfast ways and strong convictions.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 14, beginning at 10:00 A.M, at the Franzen-Davis Chapel. Reception will follow at the Funeral Home and burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Livingston.
