Arthur Swanson

Arthur Robert Swanson of Livingston, MT passed away at the Livingston Health and Rehabilitation Center on 6/11/2024 after a long illness. 

 He was born in Anaconda, MT to John and Kathleen Swanson and grew up along with his 2 sisters, in Helena, MT. In 1965, Art enlisted into the US Navy where he served for the next 6 years before becoming a Police Officer in Helena. He then moved to Livingston to pursue a Police Officer position before jumping on board with the Livingston Fire Department, where he remained for 20 years before his retirement. After retirement, Art went to work at Ace Hardware, a place that was near and dear to him as he loved helping people and construction was a hobby. 

 Art is preceded in death by his parents, his 2 sisters, a beloved brother in law and a nephew. He is survived by his wife, Karlin Swanson. His 2 children from a previous marriage, Candace and Kenneth Swanson and 6 bonus children. Shawn O’Neil, Stacy Sunvison, Kelly O’Neil, Shane O’Neil, Casey O’Neil and Kimmy O’Neil. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

 A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Mountain View Cemetery in Livingston. Military honors will take place by the American Legion Post No. 23 Honor Guard. A potluck will follow at the American Legion Post. 23 in Livingston. Please bring a dish if you are able.

 The family would like to thank all of those at Livingston Health and Rehab who helped take care of Art during his final months.
