Barbara George

July 13, 1931 — July 24, 2024

Wilsall

Barbara Ellen (Frame) George, 93, of Park County Montana, peacefully passed into the presence of her Savior at her home Wednesday evening on the Stutterheim Ranch near Clyde Park, Montana on July 24, 2024.

Barbara was born to the late Joseph (Skeeter) and Velma Frame July 13, 1931, at the Lott Hospital in Livingston, MT. Barbara was the second of three girls-Louise and Carol Ann.

She was raised in the Shields Valley and attended Horse Creek School grades one thru six, the Pepper School grades seven and eight and lastly, Wilsall High School to grade eleven. She and her sister Louise would ride their horse “Cap” almost three miles to attend the country schools in the Horse Creek area. Barbara’s parents lived and worked at the Parker Ranch east of Wilsall. Barbara had many fond memories growing up on the ranch teasing and being teased by the hired hands. It was a special time in her life filled with pranks, teasing and the occasional water fight after helping her mother with the dishes.

Barbara came to know her Savior at the young age of five and her relationship with Him only continued to grow. As a junior in high school, she attended PBI (Prairie Bible Institute) in Canada with her sister Louise. She later helped with CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship) and taught Bible clubs in places such as Mammoth, MT, where she touched the lives of many people through her gift of Bible storytelling and showed the light of Jesus wherever she went. She taught Sunday school for many years at the Shields Valley Bible Church.

Barbara worked at JC Penny in Livingston and at that time, attended Livingston Bible Church. There she met the love of her life, Kenneth George. They were married on September 20, 1952, and were married for 52 years prior to his death in 2004. To this union were born Judy, Donna, Dan (Daniel), Jim (James), Mark, and Becky. They lived in Livingston, Paradise Valley and settled in Wilsall on Horse Creek Road. Clarence Walton had contacted Ken to help cut some trees, this was the beginning of Ken’s logging career. They purchased their first home from Herb and Dotty Gilbert where they resided until the house burned in 1997. Following the house fire, they moved to Ken’s parents house near Pine Creek. Barbara enjoyed her plethora of friendships she made in the valley.

Barbara and Kenneth enjoyed picnic gatherings with family and friends, traveling, long road trips, and spending time in Kingman, AZ, with friends in the winter. They both enjoyed spreading the word of God through the Gideon Ministry. They had many weekday outings including driving into Livingston to the laundromat, lunch dates at the Truck Stop, the Yellowstone Motor Inn and going on regular visits to the Wilsall Reservoir. Barbara enjoyed spending time in the mountains with Kenneth and their kids during logging jobs. Someone once asked her why she enjoyed spending so much time with Kenneth, to which Barbara would respond, “I am just like a puppy…He opens the door, and I just jump in!”

In 2017, as Barabara’s health declined, she realized she needed to be closer to her family. Becky and Lee were blessed to have a small granary on their property which they perfectly renovated it with the help of Dennis Wertz. Barbara loved her tiny home and so enjoyed reconnecting with the Shields Valley community. She loved to drive her car “Caddy” to Dale’s Conoco and Glen’s Shopping Center and Two Doors Down, where she found joy in tipping those who helped her. She was known as Mama of Cottonwood Bench to many. She also loved visits from her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

Barbara was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was a faithful prayer warrior who desired to walk closely with her Lord. Her favorite verse was Philippians 1:6- “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Donna (Bill) Scott of Manning, ND, and their children Clint (Kelli) Scott, Angie (Nick) Coniglio, Mark (Marissa) Scott, and Laura (Abe) Dillman; daughter-in-law Liz of Manhattan, MT, and her children, Monika (Jaime) Twitchell, Mandie Day, Emily (Chris) Vigness, Ryan George, Caleb (Paulina) George, and Avery George; son Jim (Corinne) George of Wilsall, MT, and their children Carmen (John) Kleinsasser, Hannah (Taylor) Jensen, Ashley (Houston) Abbott, and Seth George; daughter Becky (Lee) Stutterheim of Wilsall, MT, and their children, Tricia Stutterheim, Cassie (Daniel) Marr and Dore’ (Rhys) McCotter. She is further survived by 27 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy; two sons, Mark and Dan; and sisters, Louise and Carol Ann.
