Bernard Carl Rolando Sr., 88, of Butte, Montana, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, at his son’s home in Clyde Park.
Born in Butte to the late Joseph Fredrick and Bernice (Hayes) Rolando. He grew up in the Italian neighborhood of Meaderville and was a proud graduate of Butte High School. He went on to serve his country in the Marine Corps Reserves, carrying that sense of honor and discipline throughout his life.
Bernie was a man of deep faith and a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. He found joy in music, fishing, camping, and hunting, and he never missed a Notre Dame football game. His love for the outdoors and his zest for life were matched only by his devotion to family and friends.
He is survived by his children Bernard Rolando Jr, Leah Thomas, Bernice Cleverley, Debi Pilon, and Freddy Rolando, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family who will cherish his memory.
Along with his parents, Bernie was preceded in death by his two sisters, Helen and Janet; his brother, Donald as well as his former wife, Dorothy Rolando (Cummings).
A viewing will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Church in Butte, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
