A memorial service was held on Wednesday, December 20th, hosted at the Holbrook United Methodist Church, Glenn Woodson of Pine Creek Methodist Church served as celebrant. Cheryl was born on December 15, 1953 in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Richard and Elaine (Sommer) Carlson. Cheryl attended Rockford schools and graduated from Guilford High School, class of 1972. She later attended MSU where she graduated in 2001 with bachelors degree in elementary education. Cheryl worked for Montana Mental Health, was a mentor with Lesprit and helped youths involved in the Aware program. Cheryl was also an active member of the Pine Creek United Methodist Church. Cherie was an amazing woman who loved her community and did all she could to make it a safe and nurturing place for children. She took in everyones pain and did all she could to bring them a moment of joy. She truly enjoyed Livingston and the Yellowstone River. She loved to go camping, to teach gardening and to sew. She would meet everyone with a smile and was genuinely kind. She always encouraged her children to love harder and stronger; she encouraged us to love ourselves first, not to hold grudges, to accept all for who they are and to grow from our pain. We encourage you to plant a fruit tree somewhere in the community to honor her spirit and remember her love. She would want the community to find the beauty of the world in ourselves. Cherie is survived by her husband, Dave Horvath. Children, son, Bradley Kant and is wife Crystal; daughter, Laura Kronske and her husband, Jonathan; and, daughter, Sara Horvath.
