Daniel Lee Dixson of Belgrade, MT died on the family ranch, surrounded by God’s Country, on April 20, 2025. He was 47 years old.
Dan was born on May 25, 1977, in Bozeman, MT to Nick and Sheila Dixson.
The family moved to Western Montana when Dan was 2. Most of his youth was spent in the foothills of the Mission Mountains. He especially enjoyed camping and fishing on the Thompson River, often managing to find a curious moose. It would watch him for a few casts, and then move on.
Lots of time was spent with Wayne Berg and Kyle Johnson. Nick and Sheila are still hearing about some of the shenanigans. His Mom will be forever grateful for the demise of the Red Ford Pinto and the story behind it.
His sister Dawn taught Dan to read before he started school, fostering a deep love for books.
Dan had a beautiful blessed life full of many accomplishments surrounded by those that he loved. He excelled in his career in plumbing for several companies and currently Apollo Mechanics. His ability to juggle multiple tasks and see the big picture contributed to his steadfast reputation and diligence in his work. He was a born leader and teacher. Dan and his wife Maura homeschooled their girls and he had a very hands on approach to their schooling. As an adult he continued to have a deep love for the outdoors particularly hunting and fishing, he shared his love of fishing with his daughter Rori. He loved working on Ford trucks, especially with his daughters Erin and Rylee. One of his greatest pleasures was cooking gourmet meals for those that he loved and baking with his daughter Shannon. His down time revolved around time with family, friends, working on the ranch, and spending time with his dogs and the family's horses. Dan was very proud and considered himself to be, “Old School Montana".
Dan is survived by his wife, Maura Dixson and their 4 beautiful daughters, Erin, Rori, Rylee, and Shannon Dixson of Belgrade, MT; his parents, Nick and Sheila Dixson of Fallon, MT; his sister, Dawn Walla DeMarco and niece, Caitlyn DeMarco of Billings, MT; his father and mother-in law, Tom and Molly Sauer of Highlands Ranch, CO; his brother and sister-in laws, Patrick and Kathryn Sauer, Michael and Adrianna Sauer, Daniel Sauer, and Nick and Brenna Jones; lots of nieces and nephews; and his God Uncle, Dave Hamill of Clyde Park, MT.
