David N. Hames

David Norman Hames, 59, of Livingston, Montana, passed away peacefully at home on August 26, 2026, after a courageous year-long battle with pancreatic cancer.

David was born in Bemidji, Minnesota, on July 8, 1967. He moved with his family to Livingston in the early 1970s, later returning to Minnesota in the late 1980s and then moving to Wyoming. In the early 1990s, David returned to Livingston, the place he would once again call home.

David dedicated 40 years of his life to working as an automotive and small engine mechanic. He had a remarkable talent for figuring things out and could fix nearly anything put in front of him. As those who knew him would say, “If it burns gas, he could fix it.” He truly was a jack of all trades. He was also a talented carpenter and took pride in working with his hands and creating, repairing, and building things.

David was passionate about the outdoors and especially loved snowmobiling and riding dirt bikes. He loved being on the go, working on machines, and pursuing the things that made him happy. His knowledge, determination, and ability to fix just about anything were a big part of who he was.

David shared 26 years of love and life with his wife, Jodi Eva-Hames. Together they created a life filled with memories, adventures, family, and love.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Jodi Eva-Hames; his daughter, Michelle, and son-in-law, Jae Walker, and grandchildren, Teanna, Allanna, London, Paris, and Genesis.

He is also survived by his stepson, Andrew Foster, and grandson, Robert; his stepson, Jordan Foster, daughter-in-law, Sarah, grandchildren Conner, Bentley, Caliber, and Frankie Ann. He is also survived by his grandchildren Andrew Harvey Lilley and Elizabeth Harvey Lilly.

David is survived by his mother, Irene Hames, and his siblings, along with many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hames.

David will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him. His memory will live on through his family, the things he built and repaired with his own hands, the many lives he touched, and the countless memories made along the way. His love of family, his talent, his determination, and his passion for the outdoors will never be forgotten.
