Dorothy was born and raised in Livingston, Montana, alongside her father Alfred (“Al”), mother Lucy, and brother John Tecca. She attended Park High School, where she played the clarinet in the band, loved dancing, and proudly served as a majorette in the school’s marching band. During these years, she also worked at the local movie theater and, after graduating, began working at National Park Bank.
It was around this time that Dorothy met the love of her life through her father’s close friendship with Bill Moore. Both Al and Bill worked for the railroad and were regulars at a local café where they often met for breakfast or lunch. Bill’s nephew, Robert (Bob), had recently moved to Livingston from Rutledge, Tennessee, to live with his uncle. Through this connection, Dorothy and Robert were introduced. Their relationship began as a friendship, but years later—after Robert completed his service in the U.S. Army—they married on June 20, 1959.
Dorothy supported Robert while he earned his degree in mechanical engineering from Montana State University, working as an office assistant in a doctor’s office. After graduation, the couple moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, where they welcomed two sons: Lloyd in 1967 and William in 1970. Shortly thereafter, the family returned briefly to Livingston before settling in Kent, Washington, where Robert began his career as an engineer with Boeing.
Dorothy was a devoted and loving mother, deeply involved in her sons’ education. She worked as a reading assistant in the Reading Lab at Springbrook Elementary and served as President of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) during their elementary school years. In addition to supporting her children, Dorothy built a successful career with Avon. Her warmth, charm, and belief in the products made her a natural in the role. She earned consistent recognition in the President’s Club, was promoted to Area Manager, and proudly received the 40-Year President’s Recognition Award.
Dorothy had a passion for beauty and craftsmanship. She enjoyed collecting fine furniture, crystal bells, and dolls, and even worked for a time with a local doll maker.
In 1986, Dorothy lost her beloved husband, Robert. Despite the heartbreak, she remained resilient and strong, continuing to encourage her sons in their personal and professional lives. Their achievements brought her immense pride.
She continued to live a full and vibrant life—dedicated to her work with Avon, enjoying time with friends, shopping, and traveling. One of Dorothy’s greatest joys was her grandchildren. She loved to spoil them during their visits, treating them to meals out, shopping trips, and endless special surprises. Her presence was a gift they cherished.
Dorothy will always be remembered for her sweet nature, kind and caring spirit, and impeccable sense of style. She took great pride in her appearance and, more importantly, in how she treated those around her—with grace, love, and warmth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Moore; her father, Alfred “Al” Tecca; her mother, Lucy Rose Castro Tecca; and her brother, John Tecca.
Dorothy’s greatest pride and deepest love was her family. She is survived by her sons, Lloyd (Trish) Moore and William (Kelly) Moore, and her four grandchildren: Emma, Sidney (Connor), Dylan, and Ethan. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews: Lee (Amanda) Tecca, John (Linda) Tecca Jr., Tony (Jane) Tecca, Rosemary (Bart) Mack, Joe (Jeanette) Tecca, and Cindy Tecca. Dorothy had special relationships with several great-nieces and nephews, including Kristen Tecca, JT Tecca, Bridger Tecca, Logan Tecca, Casey Dooley, Kylie Mack, McKenzie Mack, Isabella Mack, Landen Mack, Payton Tecca, Cena Tecca, Claree Tecca, and Jenny Tecca.
Dorothy’s love, generosity, and gentle spirit touched the lives of everyone she met. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
