In Loving Memory of Edward Robert Boucher

December 3, 1962 – June 5, 2026

Edward Robert Boucher, lovingly known as Ed, passed away on June 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, determination, kindness, and unwavering love for his family.

Ed was born on December 3, 1962, in Livingston, Montana, to Billy Boucher and Leona Miller (Maher). As the first son in the family, Ed helped pave the way for his younger siblings. He was later blessed with his brother and lifelong best friend, Ron Boucher (Natalie). Ed and Leona’s brother, Leonard, were raised together like brothers until Ron was born.

Leona later met and married the love of her life, Jim Maher, and Ed gained a devoted father figure who loved him as his own. Through that marriage, Ed gained additional siblings: Glen Cooper (Kathy), Jackie Gangstead (Mark), Debbie Ferguson (Mark), and his friend and brother, Jim Cooper (Terry). Together, Jim and Leona raised a large family, and Ed was later joined by Kim O’Neil (Jay Pat), Mel Busby (David), and Dusty Maher (Heidi).

From an early age, Ed knew the value of hard work. Whether he was working for neighbors, helping on ranches, breaking horses, finding antlers, or doing whatever was needed, he dedicated himself to providing for those he loved. His work ethic was unmatched, and he never shied away from a challenge.

Ed was not born without his vision, but over the years it was gradually taken from him. Eventually, he became legally blind, yet he never allowed that to define him or limit what he could accomplish. In fact, many people who did not personally know Ed never realized he was blind unless they reached out to shake his hand. He continued to team rope, break horses, fix appliances, build and repair equipment, and tackle challenges that many sighted people would hesitate to attempt. He believed disability was not an option and refused to let it become an excuse. His determination, strength, and perseverance inspired everyone who knew him and served as a powerful reminder that obstacles are meant to be overcome, not surrendered to.

Ed married Dawn Olson and helped raise her daughters, Tera Holliday (Elfido) and Tawny Hultgren. During those years, he worked tirelessly to provide for his family and build a life they could be proud of. He spent much of that time working on Bear’s Den Ranch and Outfitting for Pat and John Brockway, who loved Ed as one of their own. Bear’s Den was more than a job to Ed—it was a place where he guided hunters, shared stories around campfires, built lifelong friendships, and created countless memories that he carried with him throughout his life. The ranch helped shape the hardworking, dependable, and caring man that so many people knew and loved.

On March 25, 1992, Ed became a proud father when his daughter, AshLee Dawn Boucher, was born. Becoming a dad was one of the greatest joys of his life, and he worked hard every day to provide AshLee with everything he possibly could.

Later in life, Ed married Stacey Nevin and welcomed her sons, Tyler Myrstol (Quita) and Benjamin Myrstol (Crystal), into his life. He also lovingly raised Morgan Nevin (Jacklynn) as his own son, teaching him the values of hard work, integrity, and what it meant to be a good man.

On December 13, 2019, Ed gained another son when AshLee married the love of her life, Christopher O’Neal White.

Ed’s favorite title was “Daddy” until he became “Papa.” He was incredibly proud of his grandchildren. AshLee made Ed a papa on June 15, 2013, with the birth of Lane James Reinke. Just a couple of years later Wyatt Edward Reinke came, born on October 14, 2015. Wyatt was his little “mini-me” and shared a very special bond with his papa.

Ed was then blessed with Stetson Dean White on May 15, 2018, followed by Ryder O’Neal White on June 29, 2020. On December 4, 2021, Ed received the best late birthday present when his granddaughter, Rhea’Lynn Leona White, arrived early. She was named in honor of AshLee’s childhood best friend, Rhea’Lynn Baxter, who passed away at the young age of 20 on May 11, 2013.

Morgan Nevin also blessed Ed with a grandson, Braxton Dean Eck-Nevin, on August 29, 2020, and Ed eagerly awaited the arrival of another granddaughter, Avis Jo Nevin, who was due the following month.

Ed loved children and was considered a papa to many others he loved as his own. He cherished having his grandchildren around and teaching them how to care for animals. No matter the weather, he enjoyed doing chores and taking care of others.

Ed was a man of many talents and passions. He loved ranching, horses, hunting, team roping, building, fixing things, and helping anyone in need. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand.

Of all his accomplishments, the E Lazy D brand and the life he built around it held a special place in his heart. He took great pride in his ranch, his livestock, and the legacy he was building for future generations.

Ed will be remembered for his strength, determination, generosity, sense of humor, and deep love for family. He taught those around him that life’s obstacles are meant to be faced head-on and that hard work, grit, and faith can carry a person through even the toughest of times. His life was a testament to perseverance, and his impact on those who knew him will never be forgotten.

Ed is survived by his mother, Leona Maher; his daughter, AshLee Boucher-White (Christopher); his son, Morgan Nevin (Jacklynn); his stepchildren, Tyler Myrstol (Quita), Benjamin Myrstol (Crystal), Tera Holliday (Elfido), and Tawny Hultgren; his grandchildren, Lane, Wyatt, Stetson, Ryder, Braxton, and Rhea’Lynn; his siblings, Ron Boucher (Natalie), Kim O’Neil (Jay Pat), Mel Busby (David), and Dusty Maher (Heidi); and countless other family members and friends whose lives were made better by knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Boucher; his stepfather, Jim Maher; Alison Myrstol; and his lifelong best friend, Clarence Skillman.

Though Ed’s earthly journey has ended, the lessons he taught, the love he shared, and the legacy he built will live on through the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
