Emmitt W. Sluss

July 13, 1945 — February 20, 2014

Emmitt W. Sluss, 68, of Livingston, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Livingston Health and Rehabilitation Center. A Memorial Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 1, at 2 pm at the Church of God in Livingston (101 S O Str.) A fellowship gathering will immediately follow the funeral service at the church. Interment will be in McClure, Virginia at the John Rose Cemetery. Emmitt was born on July 13, 1945 in Dickenson County Virginia. He was the son of Clyde and Gracie Sluss. He received his education in a two room school house in Open Fork, Virginia. Emmitt moved to Livingston in August of 1978 where he made his home until his passing following a battle against cancer. He worked for Pepsi Cola in Virginia and in Livingston was employed at Willow Creek Lumber Company. Emmitt loved to hunt, fish, make willow canes and do beading projects. He was very proud of his creations and made many friends through those hobbies. He always loved spending the holidays and summer picnics with his Montana family. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Blessed be his memory. Emmitt is survived by his siblings, Marie Culbertson of Abingdon, VA, George Sluss and his wife Mary of Coeburn, VA, Eula Perrigan and her husband Bert of Dante, VA, Margaret Counts and her husband Henry of Livingston, MT, Peggy Leftwich and her husband Palmer of Clintwood, VA and Clyde Sluss of Stratton, VA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and dear friends. Emmitt is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Gracie Sluss and three sisters, Ruby Mullins, Sharon Moore and Patsy Mullins all of Virginia. Arrangements are under the direction of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
