Eric C. Adams

Eric Christopher Adams was born on May 10, 1979, in Hillsboro, Texas, to Josepha and Byron Adams.

Eric graduated early from Hillsboro High School. A gifted writer, editor, and lifelong student of the world, he attended San Francisco State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism in 2004. He served as Editor in Chief of Golden Gate, helping lead four student-produced media outlets. He was also a member of Alpha Phi Omega and received a Stonewall LGBTQ Scholarship for his reporting on LGBTQ communities in crisis.

Eric later pursued graduate study in contemplative leadership, horticulture, and sustainability, exploring environmental justice, ecopsychology, living systems, and Tibetan Buddhist meditation.

Eric was also an avid outdoorsman. He loved hiking, skiing, music, and visiting national parks, where he found freedom, beauty, and inspiration in nature. He spent his last summer in Montana, a place well suited to his adventurous spirit and lifelong love of the outdoors. Eric passed away on Saturday in Yellowstone National Park due to health complications, in a place that reflected his lifelong love of nature and adventure.

Just as important as his intellectual and adventurous life were the relationships he built. Eric formed deep and lasting friendships throughout his life, and many of those friends became family to him. He had a remarkable ability to create meaningful bonds with people, and those friendships were among the richest parts of his life.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Josepha Adams; his father, Byron Adams; and his loving grandmother, Mary Margaret Aldridge of Hillsboro.

Eric leaves behind his brother, Aaron Adams; his sister-in-law, Blair Baxter; his sister, Joyce Yannuzzi; his nieces, Jennifer Yannuzzi and Allyson Yannuzzi; his twin nieces, Elle and Lily Adams; his uncle, Don Johnson; his aunt, Barbara Holifeild Of San Francisco; his cousin, Tano Johnson; his aunt, Barbara Hubbard of Houston; and the many dear friends who loved him as family.
