At 6:28 pm on 6/28/1976, Heather Ellen Francis was born. Some say children that are born the same time as the date, are significantly special and that they will carry on life as one of God’s shepherds, Heather was no exception.
She grew up attending Livingston public schools and loved singing in the choir. Even though Heather’s love of music was strong, her joy of medicine and nursing was undeniable. After graduating Park High, Heather attended and received her nursing degree at Montana State University.
Heather married Justin Shandy on July 4th, 1998. She gave birth to Matthew on December 19, 2002, and Rebecca on January 30th, 2004. To advocate Heather's work ethic, each child was born following working a shift at the hospital.
Heather’s twinkle in her eyes was always Matt and Reba. Every minute together was cherished; from family trips, to attending their school activities. Heather loved to cook and was known for the world’s best cheesecake. She was an amazing photographer, allowing us a glimpse into the world through her eyes. Heather found peace in the mountains, especially the hiking trails. She strived to peak the tallest mountains no matter the amount of snow.
As a registered nurse specialized in oncology, she struggled with the impact of COVID-19. She worked tirelessly through those times, with the only exception being when she contracted the virus herself. She fought long and hard through stress, burnout, depression and sleep deprivation.
Heather is a gift, a star that shoots across the heavens with her bright smile. Her journey proceeds that path, leaving behind a trail of stardust that touches us all as an ember glowing in our hearts with her continuous love. She was by no means perfect, but she tried, and she preserved. Being a mother, a nurse, and a good person were her greatest accomplishments and privileges.
Heather is survived by her children, Matthew Shandy and Rebecca Shandy; Parents, Diana and Duane Frelich; Brothers, Jeremy Pambrun and Chris (Marley) Frelich; Grandmother, Betty Jean Davis; Aunts, Connie Moore and Debbie (Lucky) McPherson; Uncles, Larry (LeRae) Davis, Gordon Davis and Wally Chambers; she is further survived by one nephew, one niece and many cousins.
