February 2, 1945 — February 10, 2024

Willow, Alaska

Former Livingston resident, Jim Hosford passed unexpectedly at his cabin in Willow, Alaska, on February 10, 2024, just days after turning 79 years young.

Born Jimmy Ray Hosford to Kenneth and Margaret Hosford on February 2, 1945, the youngest of 6 brothers, Jim spent his childhood in Placerville, California.

After high school, which Granny insisted that he graduate from, Jim joined the Army, which he proudly served at Fort Benning, GA. During one of his trips home, he met his future wife, and her three beautiful children. He knew he wanted to be a part of their lives, so on April 2, 1966, Jim and his bride, Dorothy (Ordway) were married in Carson City, NV.  Their first child arrived that November.

After the Army, Jim and his young family moved to Kansas, where they welcomed another child. The Hosfords stayed in Kansas until 1983, at which time the family moved to Livingston, MT.  Jim work at various jobs in Livingston and surrounding areas.  His love of wielding made it easy to create anything asked of him. Jim also enjoyed woodworking, which was a good thing as he and Dorothy started refinishing furniture in their spare time.  Jim loved to fish. He and his son traveled all over Montana in search of the best fishing spot, often being gone for days.

In June of 2012 Jim and his 2nd wife Cora moved to Alaska, to be closer to family.

Jim was proceeded in death by his wife Dorothy, two Grandsons, Cory and Evan, and Daughter-in-Law, Dee.

He is survived by his wife Cora, his children, Tim (Denise) Hosford of WY, Jim (Arna)Hosford of Saipan MP, Kathy (Bob) Wester MN, Brandi Hosford, of Livingston, MT, Ken (Tammy)Hosford of Deer Lodge, MT, 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Jim will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date.
