John Charles Blasey, 83, of Livingston, Montana, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
A Memorial Mass will be held in his honor at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 2nd at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Livingston, MT. Graveside service will be held after at Mountain View Cemetery.
John was born on March 27th, 1942, in Ada, MN to Joseph and Ethel Blasey. After high school, John attended Bemidji State, worked for the Montana Park Service and then returned to Ada to work the family dairy farm.
On February 6, 1965 John and Margaret (Brommenschenkel) were wed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish in Ada, MN. They resided in Ada, MN operating their dairy farm and showing horses. In 1987 he and Marge moved to Livingston where they lived on the Reber Ranch up Fleshman Creek where they raised cattle and Quarter horses. His children remember him as a kind, patient father who encouraged them to pursue their dreams.
John absolutely loved living in Montana and his friends found along his journey. He was a master of repairing anything, big or small. He enjoyed big game hunting with the Minnesota boys. He spent many hours in a truck hauling hay for ranchers throughout the Paradise Valley. He took pride in his Quarter horses, especially Mr Baron Boy. ‘Red’ qualified in Team Roping for the Quarter Horse World Show held in Oklahoma City. That was a special moment that he would tell stories about over and over. John and Marge shared 56 years in a loving and caring marriage.
John is survived by his brothers Daniel (Terri) Blasey and Robert (Marie) Blasey and his baby sister, Kathleen (Mark) Blasey Holt; his children, Christine (Jerry) Mayne; Rebecca (Brent) Keith, John (Chuck) Blasey (Jessica) Blasey, and Billy Blasey. Grandchildren: Jerald Mayne, Jack Mayne, Derrick (Corinne) Keith, Kaleb Keith, Sheridan Blasey and Hadley Blasey.
John was predeceased by his wife Margaret (Brommenschenkel) Blasey and his siblings: Patricia (Charles) Hellerud, Myrtle Ann (Richard) Klukas, and Joseph (Jewel) Blasey.
