John Alan Houston Sr. passed away peacefully at his home in Livingston, Montana on Thursday, February 1st, 2024. He was 66 years old.
John was born on November 25th, 1957 to Elwood and Bertha Houston in Newark, New Jersey. After graduating at Bellville High School in 1975, he began working in a variety of trades including truck driving and climbing and maintaining towers. He even followed in his father’s footsteps and began his own construction cleanup business, Houston Services.
John was a social butterfly. He loved listening to music and riding motorcycles. He was always the family jokester and a bit of a trouble maker, but he would never hesitate to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Always so positive, John had a great outlook on life and brought joy to the lives of so many others. After moving to Montana in 1992 with his two children and Mother, John continued to enjoy the simple things in life and make friends everywhere he went. John will truly be missed by all who were fortunate enough to meet him.
John is survived by his children, Danielle Grabowski-Carmen of Shenandoah, PA; John Houston Jr. of Livingston, MT; Jessica Houston of Missoula, MT; grandchildren, RyLee and Makenna Houston of Livingston, MT; sister, Barbara (Bobbie) Frey of Springhill, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Joseph and his two sisters, Mary and Eileen.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Calvary Cemetery, Old Clyde Park Road in Livingston. A reception will follow at the American Legion 112 N B St, Livingston, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
