Larry Jordan

July 25, 1937 — February 13, 2026

Livingston

  • A heart of gold stopped beating-
  • Two shiny eyes at rest.
  • God broke our hearts to prove to us,
  • He only takes the best.
  • You didn’t go alone,
  • for part of us went with you.
  • To some you are forgotten,
  • to others just part of the past,
  • But to us who loved and lost you,
  • Our memory of you will always last.

Larry went to heaven on February 13, 2026. He was born to Rubie Mae and Harrison Lee Jordan on July 25, 1937. He was the first of his family to be born in the hospital, and he grew up on the ranch in Paradise Valley that he would later purchase from his parents and reside on with his wife until his death.

His entrepreneurial spirit started at a young age when he packed a lunch and sat in the office of Downer Lumber until they realized he wasn’t going to leave, and they gave him a job. He owned and operated a bulk fuel plant in Livingston and enjoyed delivering fuel and visiting with his customers. Later, he earned his real estate license and sold real estate for Century 21 until he and Cathy started their own company, Jordan & Company Real Estate. He enjoyed travelling across Montana and visiting with people from all over. As he put it, “I sold a lot of real estate.”

All of his pursuits centered around improving the ranch that he purchased from his parents in his early twenties, as well as taking care of those he loved. Larry actively worked to improve his community. He was a life-long member of the Pine Creek United Methodist Church. He served on the Park County Fair board, the Paradise Valley Canal board, and was instrumental in the consolidation of thirteen rural school districts into the Arrowhead School District.

Larry adored his wife and family. He and Cathy began as friends - a friendship that caught on fire. They were married on January 1, 1981, and their marriage lasted for over 45 years. Their greatest accomplishment was joining together their children and creating their family. Larry and Cathy truly found the love of their lives with one another.

Together they raised their kids, took care of the ranch, started their real estate company, laughed and danced together, and later travelled the world. Their favorite trips included an African safari, an adventure on the Amazon, and multiple European countries. In their retirement, Larry and Cathy enjoyed a home in Arizona as well as time on the ranch.

Larry is survived by two siblings, Russell Jordan and JoAnn Piazzola and numerous nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his wife, Cathy, and children, Travis, Holly (Trent) Stoltz, Lydia (Dennis) Elgas, and Peter (Meagan) Lannan. He was predeceased by his daughter Heidi. He adored his grandchildren, including Heidi’s children Tanner, Taylor, and Tawnie, Travis’s children Grant, Emerald, and Lily, Holly and Trent’s children Jordan, Austin, and Cameron, Lydia and Dennis’s children Erin and Meagan, and Peter and Meagan’s children Maloi and Liam. He also leaves behind four great-grandchildren and numerous wonderful friends.

Celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Larry’s name to Pine Creek United Methodist Church or to the Bozeman Cancer Center.
