Laurel Robert Bob Celander

Laurel Robert "Bob" Celander, 91, of Livingston, Montana passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at the Diamond K Lodge, Assisted Living Center.A memorial funeral service to celebrate Bobs life will be held on Monday, June 10th, 1:00P.M., at the Franzen-Davis Funeral Home, 118 North 3rd St, Livingston. A reception will follow at the Livingston Elks Lodge #246, 130 S 2nd St, Livingston.Bob was born in Livingston, Montana on November 13, 1927 to Oscar Robert and Olga Ellen (Opager) Celander. Bob attended Wilsall High School with the graduating class of 1945. He then moved to Missoula where he took college courses, Bob had to leave school because family funds grew tight. He came back to Livingston and worked for his dad in Yellowstone Park as a painter. During this time Bob had one of the coolest motorcycles, a 1948 Harley that had the first year of the panhead motor and the last year of the springer frontend. It was his pride and glory, he created some of his best memories on that bike. Bob eventually would go on to take work with the Industrial Towel and Cover Company. It was about this time that he met a lovely lady by the name of Nina Fraser. They would go on to be married on November 18th, 1951. The couple was soon blessed with a daughter, Roberta; and in the late 1950s they moved to Wolf Point, where another daughter, Cathy, was welcomed to the family. Together Bob and Nina operated the White Star Laundry until 1963 when they returned to Livingston. After another short stint with Industrial Towel, they purchased Jet Cleaners which they operated until retiring and selling the business in 1984.In retirement Bob and Nina most enjoyed escaping to their cabin up Mill Creek. They also did a bit of traveling, taking a trip to Spain with Morris and Norma Gullickson and Dave and Shirley Depuy; also, having gone on an Alaskan tour.Bob will be most remembered for his dedication to the Masonic and Elks Lodges. He was a proud supporter and remained very active with both groups and in his community. He was also a Klown with the local Shriners organization and he and Norm Frazier had their infamous toast they loved to share, "Garagekey," while pronouncing it with a thick accent, most did not pick up its common origin: Garage Key.Nothing was nearer to Bobs heart than his family and his daughters. He was very devoted and loved them all deeply. We will miss you so dearly dad.Bob will be forever remembered by his daughters, Roberta Martin and her husband, Lawrence of the Shields Valley, Cathy Brandon and her husband, Denis of Livingston; his grandson, Michael Brandon and his wife, Jessica Alberti; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Brandon, Bayley Brandon and Karlee Dodgin; and his brother, Edwin Celander and his wife, Joyce of White Sulphur Springs. As well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Bob was greeted in heaven by his parents, Oscar and Olga; his wife, Nina who passed in 2002; and his companion Sharon Chezik.Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to Livingston Shrine Klowns, C/O Scott Allen, PO Box 905; Livingston, MT 59047.Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
