Loretta C. Lorrie Turner

Loretta C. "Lorrie" Turner, 75, of Clyde Park, Montana formerly of Bozeman passed away peacefully on Monday, September 17th, 2018 at her home on Brackett Creek Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 28th, 2:00 P.M. at St. Marys Catholic Church, 39 View Vista Dr. Livingston. Mass will be followed by burial at the Calvary Cemetery and a reception in celebration of Lorries life will take place at the Livingston Elks Lodge, 130 South 2nd Street, following the interment. Born a "city girl" in Cleveland, OH, few who knew her growing up would have guessed shed soon trade the big city comforts for spending her nights in sub-zero temperatures in a lambing barn in Montana. Always a strong woman, Lorrie was known for taking a leadership role in her family at an early age and defending her little brothers from the neighborhood bullies.Lorries early career as a school teacher continued to serve her once in Montana, where she was involved with a Brownie troop, was a dedicated 4-H leader, continuously a volunteer, and always a loving wife and mother. As unanticipated as it was, Lorrie became a ranch wife where she braved the elements, helped work the cattle, fed the ranch crews, entertained the masses, and raised two kittens who followed her on her daily walks down the mountain like two little puppies. Clearly, Lorrie was best known as a baker. A long-time competitor in the food divisions at the Montana Winter Fair, she actively encouraged her family to get out there and compete as well! Volunteering for years with the fair, she had a positive impact on the fair and the community around her. One high point was her being selected to compete in the Pillsbury Bake-Off in San Francisco, having been chosen from over 3 million entries! For everything else she was known for, Lorrie clearly made the best pie crust ever, a tradition passed to her by her mother-in-law, and one she passed along to her kids and grandkids over time. Lorrie was constantly guided by her unwavering faith. She was generous with her prayers, and grateful for all of yours. She was able to spend her final days with the family she adored, on the ranch she loved, and overlooking the peaceful vistas of her favorite place, the back pond. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ernie; her brother, Rich; her children, David, Laura and Amy, and her grandchildren, Laurel, Jonathan, Alex and Kayla.Gifts in Lorries memory may be made to the Gallatin County 4-H Foundation, 903 North Black Avenue, Bozeman, MT 59715; or the donor's choice of charity.
