Matthew W. Jackson

August 24, 1972 — November 2, 2021

Matthew Ward Jackson, 49, of Livingston, Montana, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Matt was a beloved friend, brother, and son. He was a genuine, fun-loving person and made fast friends with those he encountered. He spent much of his adult life at Chico Hot Springs, where he developed loves, friendships, and lasting memories. Anyone who knew Matt witnessed his animated personality and his witty sense of humor. He was larger than life, and it came across to those that knew him for a minute or many years. Matt has moved around, but his heart always brought him back to Paradise Valley. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing. We imagine some of his best memories are on the river, and where he felt at peace. His other passion was in the company of others, spending time, sharing stories. He was quick with a joke or a really funny story, usually accompanied by tears of laughter. I've never laughed harder than with Matt. In the last several years, many special hours were spent on the golf course and in the company of family and friends. Matt was a sensitive soul and tender hearted. He always defended others, especially the underdog. Many a story of Matt intervening on someone's behalf is a true testament to who he was. Many of us were a recipient of a big Matt-style bear hug. He developed a love for cooking, which he took on as his career. Super busy dinners, lavish buffets, and many hours spent in the camaraderie of the kitchen. He had a passion for it and took pride in his role in it. He learned on the job and helped many others along the way. Matt will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved him. Everyone has a Matt Jackson story that I'm sure will honor his memory in its retelling. As you pass a river or stream, know that Matt's spirit is there, doing what he loved with a big smile on his face. Matt is survived by his mother Nancy, his father Cody (Leslie), and his brother Kevin (Aimee). No services are planned at this time. Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
