Peggy Berg

November 6, 1947 — July 10, 2024

Livingston

Peggy Faye Berg was born November 6, 1947, to Victor O. Berg and Doris E. Berg (Shepherd) in Baker, Montana. Peggy died July 9, 2024, at her home in Livingston, MT, at the age of 76.

She attended elementary school in Ollie, MT until 1955, after which the family spent a year in Reed Point until they moved to Gardiner, MT, where she graduated in 1965.

Shortly after graduating, Peggy was united in marriage to Dean Bergsing. Dean joined the United States Air Force, and they would spend two years in Puerto Rico and two in Savanna, Georgia.

Following his honorable discharge, they moved to Livingston, MT, and in 1975, they would own and operate the Conoco Gas Station. Peggy reupholstered automobile seats and furniture, and she is best known throughout the community for her 25 years of service, working for the Mountain Bell/US West telephone companies. In 1991, Peggy and Dean divorced.

Peggy loved to volunteer. She joyfully delivered for Meals on Wheels, and participated in Laugh-In, a popular Gardiner comedy event, which raised money for cancer research. Over the years she could be seen in several different churches including Gardiner Community Church, Holbrook United Methodist Church and Pine Creek United Methodist Church.

Peggy had a wonderful sense of humor and was quick witted with the pen. She loved arts and crafts including tatting, knitting, and making her own jewelry. She enjoyed baking, and she is best known as a chocolatier. Everyone loved her chocolate covered cherries, and her double decker fudge. She owned and enjoyed many musical instruments, which she taught herself to play. Peggy will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and her beloved dog Pete.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Doris Berg, nephew Nelson McNair and great nephew Grant Berg.

She is survived by her son Max (Nikole) Bergsing and their children Drew and Zack, sister Lorann Berg and her children Dr. Patty (Dennis) Nesbit, and Scott Stephenson, brother Max (Sue) Berg and their son Mike (Christi) Berg, their son Gavin, sister Arleta Berg and her son Shane Hape, and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a Memorial Service Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Fred Amborn, III will be officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Stafford Animal Shelter.
