Phyllis Jean Keegan

August 28, 1927 — March 6, 2021

Phyllis Jean (Gregersen) Keegan, 93, of Livingston, Montana, passed away March 6, 2021, at Livingston Health and Rehabilitation. Phyllis was born on August 28, 1927, in Hartington, Nebraska, the youngest of five children, to Martin and Verda (Slater) Gergersen. Her mother passed away when Phyllis was just 18 months old, leaving Phyllis in the care of her siblings who raised her. In her teens, Phyllis moved to Los Angeles with family and worked at F.W. Woolworth's. She spent one summer working for the carnival, which resulted in her only giving her grandchildren money for the carnival after reminding them, "you know those games are rigged!"On November 6, 1946, Phyllis married Robert Keith Keegan in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their children, Pauline and Gary, were born in Washington, and the family lived in Auburn, Washington for several years. In 1963, Phyllis, Bob and the kids moved to Helena, and then on to Livingston in 1966, where Bob was transferred to continue his work with the railroad. Phyllis spent the rest of her life in Livingston, raised the children, and enjoyed 54 years of marriage to Bob prior to his passing in 2000. During this time, she enjoyed bowling, camping and fishing, and the "girls trips" with her close friends Ginny and Nellie. Her favorite pastime, though, was doting on her grandchildren. Phyllis was preceded in death by her siblings, Mildred, Leonard, Lyle, and Ellen; and son-in-law, Charles. She is survived by her daughter, Pauline Gaugler of Garneill, Montana; son, Gary (Rosanna) Keegan of Livingston, Montana; grandchildren, Jessica (Brett) Knudsen, Sarah (Brad) Walters, Daniel (Kelly) Gaugler, Mark (Laurie) Gaugler, Laura (Gustav) Mundt, Drew Keegan, and Kaycee Keegan; great-grandchildren, Stran Knudsen, Raney, Rylee, and Tanner Walters, Quinn and Dylan Gaugler, and Libby Gaugler; and several nieces and nephews.Cremation has taken place, and private family services will be held at a later date. Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements. To view the tribute page and leave condolences, visit www.franzen-davis.com.
