Alliance, NE

  1. Ula Joan Tyler (Heaps) was born in Livingston, Montana on December 4, 1935 and passed on May 22, 2026 in Alliance, Nebraska.

  2. Jo was the youngest of five children born to Chris and Josephine Heaps, all whom have preceded her to heaven. She was the nomad of the family and traveled a lot. She was the keeper of the family history and story-teller with a wicked sense of humor that would keep you in smiles.

  3. She signed up for the Army (WACS) in October 1954 thru December 1957. She went on to join the AirForce (WAFS) in October 1958 through September 1959. While stationed in Japan she married Roy Tyler who died in a car accident in September 1963.

  4. After leaving the service she lived in many states finding work at the places where her best friend, Betty Collins, would be playing in a country music band. They both returned to Livingston after years on the road. Jo managed the Mint Bar and Betty worked for the Montana Parks Department until their retirement. They moved to Sequim, Washington for 16 years and after Betty’s death Jo moved to Parma, Idaho, where she lived with her niece, Garnet, for 6 years until Garnet passed. She then moved to Alliance, Nebraska to live with her nephew, Gary, until her passing.

  5. She will be missed by all of her many nieces and nephews.

  6. Jo will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery in Livingston on Saturday July 11th at 3:00.
