Alberta Wood passed away at Spring Creek Inn Memory Care in Bozeman on the 17th of November, 2020 at the age of 95. She had been living there for the past two years.
Alberta was born in Livingston, Montana to Charles and Ellen Alkire, the oldest of four children. She attended school in Livingston and graduated from Park County High School. Alberta married Donald Wood in 1943. After Donald returned home from WWII they ranched in Park and Sweet Grass counties, buying the Hodges place east of Livingston in 1951, where they ranched until Donald's death in 2010.
Alberta enjoyed gardening and music, playing the banjo and violin. In later years she played the fiddle a lot and was a member of the District 3 Old Time Fiddlers. She was written up in a Montana tourist magazine and never missed the annual fiddler’s picnic south of town.
She is survived by brothers, Robert (Linda) Alkire, Charles Alkire and children, Dale (Cathy) Wood, Roy (Carol) Wood, Barbara (Scott) Fletcher and daughter-in-law, Roberta Wood. She leaves grandchildren, Zane (Colleen) Wood, Brandon (Brenda) Wood, Craig (Brandi) Wood, Matthew Wood, Austin Fletcher, Cassiday Fletcher and four great-grandchildren.
Alberta was proceeded in death by her parents, a sister, Ellen Laverne, her husband, Donald Wood, and son, Earl Wood.
She will be missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank Spring Creek Memory Care for all their care and kindness.
