John James Bond, age 74, of Livingston, Montana formerly of Otis, Massachusetts has passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at his sons home in Livingston. He was surrounded by the love of his wife, Monica; son and daughter-in-law, John and Silje and their children, Isabella and Remi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held intimately as a family. Burial will be at the Yellowstone National Cemetery in Laurel with full veterans honors.John was born on March 7th, 1946 in Albany, New York to William Perkins and Jane (Sullivan) Bond. John was raised throughout the New England area, as his father followed his work with Woolworths. He graduated high school in 1965 and stayed in touch with a special young lady, Monica Calluzzo. They were united in marriage on October 18, 1969.Following graduation John enlisted in the United States Army. He was inducted on June 30, 1966. John served during the Viet Nam War as a Sergeant, Infantry Platoon Leader. He was awarded a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star, Viet Nam Service Medal, and Combat Infantry Badge. He was Honorably discharged on June 29, 1972.He and Monica made their home in West Hartford, Connecticut. They began their family there with the birth of a daughter, Sara. John worked for Woolworths, like his father. They later relocated to Otis, Massachusetts where they welcomed another, daughter, Jessica, and later a son, John. He and his father and sister operated a general store by the name, Us Bonds there for about 20 years. They sold food, booze and general merchandise; John was the master meat cutter of the operation. John and Monica later relocated to Amherst, MA where John served other veterans volunteering with D.A.V. as a driver for seven years. John had full disability through the Veterans Association for severe PTSD. He was so grateful for the North Hampton VA Ward 8 PTSD Program.He and Monica bought an RV in 2006 and traveled the country. They fished the best rivers and enjoyed every minute together. In 2015 they fulfilled a life-long dream of living in Montana when they came to Livingston, MT to live and be close to their son, John.John was a Patriot through and through. He loved America, supported other veterans and was a steward of mother earth. He was fascinated and appreciated Native American culture. Some of his most precious memories were of his family, Disney World, the Giants winning the Super Bowl and his friend Jack Daniels. We lost a wonderful man, but we will hold close the love we shared, forever.He is survived by his wife, Monica Bond of Livingston; daughter, Sara (Paul) Lyman; daughter, Jessica Bond of both of Massachusetts; and son, John (Silje) Bond of Montana; grandchildren, Emma Paige and Alexander Weston Currier; Natalie and Lincoln Jane Lyman; and Isabella Lumi and Remi Louise Bond; siblings, Margaret (Russell) Loring, Jeff (Gayle) Bond, Billy (Lorraine) Bond, Mary Beth Bond and her life partner, Kasha, Corey Bond and his life partner, Maryann; as well as, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.John was preceded in death by his parents, and stillborn brother, Francis.Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
