Shawna McGee

October 20, 1963 — December 25, 2022

In the early morning hours of Christmas Day, Shawna McGee, age 59, passed away at Livingston Healthcare due to complications from surgery.

Shawna was born in Livingston, Montana on October 20, 1963, to the late Johnny McGee and Joette (Petrich) Counts. Dad always said it was the one and only time he missed opening day of Hunting Season!

Shawna was a 1983 graduate of Park High School. She left MT shortly thereafter and landed in Madison, WI where she resided for the next 20 plus years. In August 1994, she met and married Daniel Florey. They both truly lived life to the fullest with their many travels to Europe and by hosting large events at their beautiful home in Madison. One of her (and my) fondest trips is when I, the younger tag along Sister, was invited to accompany them on an extensive 3-week adventurous tour of Italy. We both learned about the finer side of wines and that we loved tiramisu. But what left us in awe, was when we were present in St Peter’s Square and Pope John Paul II spoke from his apartment window.  Shawna’s other passion was genealogy of her ancestorial history and lineage.

Shawna worked 17 years at the American Red Cross in Madison, WI doing everything from blood lab work to administration of the reference lab. When the Red Cross restructured and moved their headquarters, she went to work at the Catholic Diocese of Madison as office administrator assistant and marketing. After Dan passed away in 2014, she moved back home to Livingston. In December of 2015, she married Rick Myers. They later divorced, but remained close friends

Shawna is survived by her mother Joette (Ron) Counts of Colorado, sister Colette (Tom) Merritt of Livingston and many extended family members & friends.

A huge heartfelt thank you to the dedicated staff of Livingston Healthcare during her last days. We will gather in late spring/early summer, to celebrate her life and reminisce. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Red Cross or the charity of your choice.

Sissy, I hope you find the eternal peace that you have been searching for! I love you and I will miss you!!  ~Ciao Baby~
