Stanley Baker

October 24, 1964 — May 26, 2023

Stanley James Baker was born on October 24, 1964, to Edwin and Marilene Baker in Livingston, MT. He spent most of his young years enjoying the cabin his father and Grandpa Neldy built in Willow Creek. Following his older siblings, he graduated from Park County High School in the summer of 1983. He left his hometown to attend Billings Auto Body School in 1984. After working with cars Stan found a calling to ranch and work with animals, leaving for Rapid City, SD the following year. This adventure led to Stan meeting his wife Catherine Sorensen in 1990. They were married a year later in Plankinton, SD. Deciding to return to MT, the new couple found a home in Lincoln and Stan, a job at High Country Jerky. In 1992 they welcomed their first daughter, Sarah. After she was born they decided to be closer to family and bought a home in Livingston where they added a second daughter, Lydia, in 1996. They added their youngest daughter Hannah in 1999, completing their ideal family.

In the early 2000's Stan's appetite to try new things led him to traveling to Thailand and Australia. After the adventure, Stan moved to Belgrade where he was known by many, especially his daughters, as the best single Dad ever! Along with raising three beautiful girls, Stan owned and operated Montana Log Restoration for 20+ years. He spent most of his time enjoying the outdoors and the serenity it provided. He loved taking his girls up and showing them the beauty of the wilderness. Not only did he love the outdoors, he loved helping others. There were many people to cross Stan's path that needed a father figure or a friend and Stan was happy to oblige. He could often be found buying lunch for a stranger just to discuss life or setting up his couch for those that needed a place to rest. His heart was made of gold and he had a hug to solve all problems.

Stan transitioned from teaching his daughters how to ride dirt bikes and playing outside to teaching them gardening and how to love authentically. Stan was blessed with 4 amazing grandchildren Ryder, Olivia, Hunter, and Creed. He could often be found teaching his grandchildren how to take care of chickens, play with his dogs, Ruby and Lily, or how to do the chores to help their parents. Stan loved everyone he came in contact with and loved to pass on knowledge, hugs and warm smiles. He wanted to share his light with the world. It is heartbreaking that his warm smile won't be around every day, but if you look closely, you'll find it. Every sunrise, sunset, campfire or ride through the mountains will remind us of him. He will forever be in our hearts and be missed by all of us. We love you Stan. May you have peace at your new home in heaven.

Stan is survived by his brother- Steve Baker, Sister- Sharon (Baker) Newcomb, step-sister Julia, step-brother Jerad, Daughters- Sarah Baker, Lydia Baker, and Hannah Baker. Grandchildren- Ryder Tafur, Olivia Tafur, Hunter Baker, and Creed Kondash
