Kathleen Carol Carrick was born May 31, 1955 in Helena, Montana.  She was adopted at the age of 6 months from the Florence Crittenton Home by Jean (Rinan) Snyder Rowland and Eugene Donald Snyder.  Kathy became the center of her parents’ and grandparents’ lives and lived an idyllic life in her early years.  Happy memories include sneaking next door to become her maternal grandpa’s shadow and spending time with him at the family cabin on Flathead Lake.  Kathy cherished her grandpa.

Kathy played the piano and was a gifted clarinetist.  She was selected to play with the Great Falls orchestra at the age of 14 and played with musician, Doc Severinsen from the Johnny Carson show.

Kathy graduated from Charles M. Russell High School on Great Falls, MT in 1973.  Kathy was highly intelligent and was invited to join the Mensa International.  She graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington with a B.S. in nursing.  Kathy wanted to be a medical doctor but felt as a woman in the 1970’s she would not have been accepted to a medical school.  Kathy continued nursing in the kidney dialysis department while putting herself through law school in California.  She held law licenses and practiced in the states of California, New York and Montana, passing each state’s bar exam the first time.  Kathy was the Chief Deputy County Attorney for Park County at the time of her death.

Kathy was married to and divorced from Eric Lien, Tim Carrick and John Hundley.  She reconnected with her former boyfriend throughout high school and college, Cliff Lingen of Great Falls, MT, and they remained friends until her death.  Ginger Morrison Goyzueta of Salt Lake City, UT was a friend of Kathy’s for over 52 years, as well.  Toby Harris, (deceased) of Livingston, MT was one of Kathy’s closest friends and traveling companions.

Kathy is survived by her beloved dogs, Hope, Sophie and Fonzie (cared for by her dear friend Kim Collins); sister, Sandy Anseth (Alan) of Billings, MT;  nephew, Andrew Anseth of Fayetteville, NC; niece, Anni Gregersen (Casey) of Houston, TX; great-nephews, Kolt (5), Fynn (3) and Rhett (4 mos.) of Houston, TX; cousins, Dan Rinnan, Alystra Hill, Scott Conner, Amy Conner, Bob Diamond, Reed Diamond, Donna David; and many friends.  Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Jean Rowland; her grandparents, Julius G. Rinan and Elizabeth H. Rinan; her dear friend, Toby Harris; adoptive father, Gene Snyder; biological father, Bud Fritzler, biological mother and stepfather.

Kathy loved her dogs, her maternal grandpa, Flathead Lake, the color purple, violets, mysteries, traveling with Ginger or Toby, rock music from the 1970’s and mainly Fleetwood Mac, Heart and the Mission Mountain Woodband.  She especially enjoyed spending time with friends- Ginger Goyzueta, Kim Collins, Bill, Judy and Toby Harris, Lois and Don Voges, Nancy MacCracken and Cheryl Pommper.

We so loved you, Kathy.  May you now rest in peace.
